The Beaver County Times is reporting that Marte threw off a mound Wednesday for the first time since he left a World Baseball Classic game because of a shoulder strain. The Pirates' left-hander told the newspaper he is confident he will pitch in an exhibition game before the weekend is out and should be ready to work out of the Pittsburgh bullpen by opening day.
