Meche will miss a scheduled turn on the mound Monday because of a strained oblique muscle in his left side. The Seattle right-hander will be re-evaluated in three days, but the injury is not believed to be serious.

Analysis: The Mariners are expected to be cautious with Meche so early in the spring. He is expected to serve as Seattle's No. 4 starter after a 10-8 season and a 5.09 ERA in 26 starts and three relief appearances in 2005.
