Trying to fill gaps, the New York Yankees got infielder/outfielder Craig Wilson from the Pittsburgh Pirates for pitcher Shawn Chacon on Tuesday. (Updated 7/31/2006) Analysis: Wilson was hitting .267 with 13 home runs and 41 RBIs. He made 40 starts at first base and 23 in right field for the Pirates. A big hitter in 2004, the 29-year-old Wilson missed most of the 2005 season because of an injured hand. Wilson also has provided power off the bench, hitting a team-record 12 pinch-hit home runs in his career.
