Reitsma learned on Wednesday he will need season-ending surgery because of ulnar neuritis, a condition that is causing numbness in his fingers. The right-handed reliever will seek a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews on July 17. He may need either Tommy John surgery, which would keep him out for a year, or an ulnar nerve transposition procedure, which would keep him out six months. (Updated 7/6/2006) Analysis: The former closer, Reitsma had eight saves and an 8.68 ERA for the Braves this season. He blew four of 12 save opportunities before being removed from the closer role.
