Detroit said Maroth isn't likely to return to the Tigers' rotation this season. The left-hander, sidelined since May with elbow problems, said he didn't feel well after a bullpen session on Sunday. The team is expected to activate him on Sept. 1, but will likely be used out of the bullpen.
