Gross hit a pinch-hit two-run homer off Houston's Roy Oswalt on Tuesday, in the seventh inning of Milwaukee's 13-12 loss to the Astros. As a pinch-hitter this season, Gross is 5-for-10 with three home runs and nine RBIs. (Updated 4/19/2006) Analysis: Gross has made just one start for the Brewers, but he is making a case for more playing time. Milwaukee is unlikely to play him over corner outfielders Carlos Lee and Geoff Jenkins, so Gross' only real opportunity to play regularly would be in center. Brady Clark is off to a slow start, but he has developed into one of the most underrated leadoff hitters in the game. Gross is batting .429 (6-for-14) and slugging 1.143 in 13 games.
