The Chicago Cubs traded Wellemeyer to the Florida Marlins Tuesday, in exchange for minor league pitchers Zach McCormack and Lincoln Holdzkom. Wellemeyer, a 27-year-old right-hander, was 2-1 with a 6.12 ERA and a save in 22 relief appearances in 2005. He also started at Triple-A Iowa last season, going 3-2 with a 3.02 ERA in 12 starts.
