Atkins extended his hitting streak to 12 games when he went 2-for-3 with a double in a 9-2 Rockies' win over the Washington Nationals on Tuesday. The third baseman has gone 17-for-43 (.395) with five doubles, one homer, nine RBIs and seven runs during the streak. He is four games shy of his career-best 16-game hitting streak set from Aug. 25-Sept. 11, 2005.
