The Seattle Mariners traded Thornton to the Chicago White Sox Monday, in exchange for outfield prospect Joe Borchard. Thornton was 0-4 with a 5.21 ERA in 55 relief appearances in 2005. (Updated 3/20/2006) Analysis: Thornton is out of options, so he'll probably stick with a White Sox team desperate to find at least one left-hander for the bullpen. The southpaw has a mid-90s fastball and a nasty slider that he must tame, which could make him a decent performer out of the pen.
