The Devil Rays placed Gomes on the 15-day disabled list with a shoulder injury on Monday night.

Analysis: Gomes, who was batting .216 with 20 homers and 59 RBIs, was placed on the DL after having his right shoulder examined Monday in Cincinnati. He's expected to have surgery this week.
