Snell is making a serious bid to join fellow prospects Zach Duke and Paul Maholm in the Pittsburgh rotation. The 24-year-old right-hander worked four scoreless innings in a 3-2 win over Cleveland on Friday, lowering his ERA for the spring to 1.38. Snell has made four appearances and worked 13 innings.

Analysis: Snell, who threw a no-hitter at Triple-A Indianapolis last season, was 1-2 with a 5.14 ERA in 15 games (five starts) with the Pirates. The highly regarded prospect could give the Pirates three terrific young arms in their rotation.
