Shoppach was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Friday by the Indians when catcher Tim Laker was designated for assignment. Shoppach hit .282 (22-for-78) with four home runs and nine RBIs in 21 games for Buffalo after being sent down on May 20.

Analysis: Shoppach, 26, was one of three players acquired from Boston in the January deal that sent outfielder Coco Crisp to the Red Sox. He hit .250 (4-for-16) with two RBIs in eight games, including five starts, while he was with the Indians earlier this season.
