The Giants recalled Taschner from Triple-A Fresno on Tuesday and optioned Kevin Frandsen to their top farm club.

Analysis: Taschner opened the season with San Francisco, but was optioned to the minors on April 20 to make room for reliever Armando Benitez to come off the disabled list. Taschner has allowed 11 earned runs and 13 hits in just 4 1-3 innings for a 22.85 ERA over seven games with the Giants this season. He had a 4-2 record with a 3.07 ERA and a team-best eight saves with Fresno.
