Florida called up Sanchez from Double-A Carolina for an emergency start on Sunday and he pitched 5 2-3 shutout innings in a 5-0 win over the New York Yankees. The 22-year-old right-hander gave up seven hits, no walks and struck out two in his major league debut. Sanchez, who was acquired from Boston last November as part of a trade for Josh Beckett, was needed after Saturday's game was postponed due to rain forcing a doubleheader Sunday. (Updated 6/26/2006) Analysis: Sanchez was 3-6 with a 3.15 ERA for the Mudcats.
