Smith was recalled from Triple-A Columbus by the Yankees on Friday. The left-handed reliever was one of New York's final spring training cuts. He made three relief appearances without allowing a hit for the Clippers this season. Smith was a fourth-round amateur draft pick by the Yankees in 2000.
