Ruiz was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday when fellow catcher Sal Fasano was placed on the 15-day disabled list.

Analysis: Ruiz was batting .307 with seven homers and 34 RBIs in 58 games for the Red Barons. He had been called up earlier in the season and collected his first major league hit against the New York Mets' Pedro Martinez on May 9.
