The Mariners will recall Jones, their 2005 minor league player of the year, from Triple-A Tacoma on Friday to help fill their urgent need in center field. The team announced the 20-year-old Jones will replace Shin-Soo Choo, whom the Mariners optioned to Tacoma on Thursday. (Updated 7/14/2006) Analysis: Jones was batting .277 in 82 games for Tacoma with 14 home runs and 55 RBIs. He had a 20-game hitting streak through July 8, the longest in the Pacific Coast League this season. He was the Rainiers' only representative for Wednesday's Triple-A All-Star Game.
