Ronny Turiaf
As anticipated, Turiaf has signed with the Los Angeles Lakers, agreeing to a two-year contract. In July, the rookie forward, who was a second-round pick in the 2005 Draft, underwent surgery to repair an enlarged aortic root in his heart, a life-threatening condition, and it was feared he could possibly never play basketball again. He has since fully recovered from the procedure and recently was playing for Yakima of the CBA, averaging 13.0 points and 6.3 rebounds.

Analysis: Turiaf will need some time to familiarize himself with the Lakers' system, so don't expect him to have an immediate impact. According to head coach Phil Jackson, he will be worked in gradually.
