Jay Fiedler
Fiedler, a free agent, signed with Tampa Bay on Tuesday. The 34-year-old quarterback will compete for a backup job behind Chris Simms. Fiedler was sidelined most of 2005 after having surgery to repair his injured shoulder. He began a throwing program about a month ago. "I'm throwing three, four times a week right now, hoping to get to a point where I'm throwing it every day pretty soon, working up the strength and getting the range of motion back," Fiedler said.

Analysis: Fiedler played in just two games for the New York Jets last season and has also played for Miami, Jacksonville and Minnesota during his 10 career seasons. He has started 60 of his 77 career games, posting a 37-23 record and throwing for 11,844 yards, 69 touchdowns and 66 interceptions. The Bucs also have quarterbacks Tim Rattay, Jaren Allen and rookie Bruce Gradkowski on their roster.
