| James signed a four-year contract with the Arizona Cardinals worth $30.5 million, $11.5 of which is guaranteed, in a surprising move Saturday. James will earn $14.75 million in 2006. The former University of Miami star had spent all of his seven seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, who had selected him with the fourth overall pick in the 1999 draft. |

| Analysis: James rushed for 1,506 yards and 13 touchdowns on 360 carries and caught 44 passes for 337 yards and a score with the Colts during the regular season last year. James had rushed for at least 1,250 yards in each of the last three seasons. He has 9,226 yards and 64 touchdowns on 2,188 career rushes for a 4.2-yards-per-carry average. The signing means the stints of J.J. Arrington and Marcel Shipp are probably over in Arizona. |
