Fernandez was signed to a multiyear contract extension by the Wild before Minnesota's 4-2 loss to the Anaheim Mighty Ducks on Friday.

Analysis: The 31-year-old Minnesota goaltender is 23-11-4 with a 2.20 goals-against average in 41 games this season. His .924 save percentage ranks third in the NHL behind the New York Rangers' Henrik Lundqvist (.927) and the Ottawa Senators' Dominik Hasek (.925).
