The Capitals re-signed Johnson on Saturday.

Analysis: Johnson was picked up on waivers from the Vancouver Canucks last October and played 26 games as the backup to Olaf Kolzig. The 29-year-old goaltender went 9-12-1 with a 3.44 goals-against average. He went 4-1-1 in his last six starts, allowing one goal or less in all four of the victories. One of his top games came on April 1 against the Ottawa Senators when he stopped 46 shots in a 1-0 win.
