Vladimir Malakhov
Malakhov unexpectedly retired Monday after playing in just 29 games with the Devils. The 37-year-old defenseman had four goals and nine points this season.

Analysis: Malakhov's decision came at a bad time for New Jersey, which learned of the resignation of coach Larry Robinson on the same day. It is unknown why Malakhov decided to hang it up, though his agent claims he isn't retired and is instead taking a personal leave of absence. Malakhov has 86 goals and 346 points in 712 career games.
